Don’t all calls sound the same..? Absolutely not…
Take The SLY Fox and The brand new WICKED VIXEN from Reese Outdoors in Alaska. Two calls that look identical except in colour but when you blow them, they’re worlds apart.
Both calls are made of a composite material and feature an internal metal reed. Both are ridiculously easy to blow – and both are, quite simply, deadly…
The SLY, the light brown coloured call, produces what we’d describe as a soft squeal. It can be very quiet – it can be very loud but the squeal is soft around the edges – and mimics a distress cry – an animal that is in distress.
The WICKED VIXEN, the orange call, is a different beast altogether. Blow the WICKED VIXEN and you’ll get a series of raspy screams- mimicking the sound of a vixen screaming – or a distressed hare. It’s more a scream than a squeal.
Put the two together and you have a deadly due of callers that if there’s foxes about, they’ll struggle to ignore!
