The ZEISS Secacam 3 Wide-Angle takes the excellent connected monitoring capabilities of the Secacam 3 and adds a huge 100° field of view – allowing a single camera to monitor a much wider area.
For fox control and deer management, that can make a real difference. Position it overlooking a bait point, feeding area, gateway, woodland clearing or other location where animals may approach from several directions and the wider lens gives you much more chance of capturing what’s happening.
With fast triggering, invisible 940nm infrared illumination and 4G/LTE connectivity, captured images can be sent directly to the ZEISS Secacam app on your phone – giving you a discreet pair of eyes on your ground day and night.
100° Wide-Angle View – See More of What’s Happening
The big difference between the standard Secacam 3 and the Secacam 3 Wide-Angle is the lens.
Where the standard Secacam 3 has a 60° field of view, the Wide-Angle version increases this to an impressive 100°, capturing substantially more of the surrounding area in every image.
That makes it particularly useful where you can’t predict exactly where an animal will appear – around bait stations, feeding areas, gateways, clearings, rides and other open areas.
It can also mean fewer cameras are needed to monitor a particular location, with a single Wide-Angle camera covering an area that might otherwise require several narrower viewpoints.
Ideal for Monitoring Fox Bait Points
A bait point is one of the obvious applications for the Secacam 3 Wide-Angle.
A fox won’t necessarily approach from the direction you expect. The 100° field of view gives you much greater coverage around the bait, helping you see where a fox is coming from, how it approaches and when it is visiting.
Because images can be transmitted directly to your phone, there’s no need to continually return to the camera just to check whether a fox has visited – reducing disturbance and giving you a better picture of its normal behaviour.
Excellent for Deer Monitoring
The Wide-Angle is equally useful for deer management, particularly where you’re monitoring larger areas rather than a single narrow trail.
Place it overlooking a feeding area, woodland clearing, ride junction, gateway or other regularly used location and the wider field of view lets you see much more of what’s happening around the camera.
Rather than simply recording an animal as it crosses a narrow strip of ground, the wider image can also provide useful context about where deer are coming from and the direction they’re travelling.
Sharp Images – Even Close to the Camera
Wide coverage doesn’t mean sacrificing nearby detail.
The Secacam 3 Wide-Angle has an exceptionally short close-focus distance of approximately 30–35cm, allowing it to capture sharp images of animals very close to the camera.
This helps minimise the blind area immediately in front of the unit and makes the Wide-Angle particularly versatile in tighter locations.
See What’s Moving – Day or Night
Foxes and deer are often most active when light levels are at their worst.
The Secacam 3 Wide-Angle combines a highly sensitive image sensor with 60 invisible 940nm Black LEDs to produce clear night-time images without an obvious visible flash.
ZEISS IR Boost technology optimises the 940nm infrared illumination to provide excellent night-time image quality while remaining discreet to wildlife.
Images Sent Straight to Your Phone
The built-in LTE/4G connection and multi-roaming SIM allow captured images to be transmitted to the ZEISS Secacam App.
The system automatically connects to available mobile networks rather than restricting the camera to a single network provider – particularly useful on rural ground where mobile coverage can vary considerably from one location to another.
Through the app you can receive notifications, view captured images, monitor camera status, manage settings and organise recordings without having to physically visit the camera.
Fast Enough to Catch Passing Animals
The Secacam 3 Wide-Angle combines its broad field of view with a fast 0.35–0.45 second response time.
Its enhanced PIR detection system is designed to detect moving animals at distances of up to 25 metres, depending on the size of the animal and the temperature difference between it and the surrounding environment.
That combination of wide coverage, fast triggering and long detection range makes it particularly effective for monitoring animals moving naturally through larger areas.
Quick & Easy Setup
The hinged 1.9-inch colour display gives you a live view while positioning the camera, making it easy to see exactly what your 100° field of view covers before leaving the camera in position.
A dedicated TEST button lets you trigger a test image to check the setup without having to work through the camera’s menus.
Built for Year-Round Monitoring
The Secacam 3 Wide-Angle is designed for permanent outdoor use, with an IP66 rated housing and operating temperature range from -20°C to +55°C.
Intelligent flash control automatically adjusts infrared illumination according to the situation, helping prevent overexposed images while reducing unnecessary battery consumption.
Power comes from 8 AA batteries housed in a removable battery magazine, making battery replacement straightforward in the field.

Standard Secacam 3 or Wide-Angle?
The choice really comes down to where you’re going to put it.
The standard Secacam 3’s 60° field of view is excellent for monitoring defined routes such as tracks, woodland rides and narrow gateways where you have a good idea where an animal will appear.
The Secacam 3 Wide-Angle comes into its own where you need to monitor a broader area – bait points, feeding areas, clearings, wider gateways or anywhere animals may approach from several directions.
If maximum coverage from a single camera is the priority, we’d choose the Wide-Angle.
Why We Like the ZEISS Secacam 3 Wide-Angle
For fox and deer monitoring, the 100° lens isn’t just a specification – it’s genuinely useful.
At a fox bait point, it gives you a much better chance of seeing where a fox is approaching from. Around a deer feeding area or woodland clearing, you get far more context than you would from a narrow image.
Combine that with remote 4G image transmission and you can build up a detailed picture of what’s happening without continually walking back onto the ground and disturbing it.
